Martin County Remembers September 11 is a month long remembrance of
the day in 2001 that changed our world forever. It consists of five
different public events at multiple locations throughout Martin
County. Here is the Schedule of events in date order:
Celebration of Freedom
Wednesday September 10th we are hosting a “Celebration of Freedom” at
the Jensen Beach High School inside the gymnasium. There will be
several guest speakers including Senator Ken Pruitt and FAU President
Frank Brogan , a moving video presentation, patriotic music, Bagpipe &
Drum bands and Honor Guards from across the State. Tickets can be
picked up at the Blake Library on September 8th and 9th.

“New York, September 11” by the Magnum
Photography Group
The core event of our month long tribute is the Photographic Exhibit
called “New York, September 11” by the Magnum Photography Group. This
exhibit will be on display in the Armstrong Wing of the Blake Library
in Stuart from Sept. 11th through Sept. 30th.

Report From Ground Zero
Friday September 12th at 7:00 Pm, we are honored to present Report
From Ground Zero and welcome as our special guest Mr. Dennis Smith.
Dennis is veteran of FDNY and the author of the New York Times
Bestseller Report From Ground Zero. He will be here to speak and then
show the two hour documentary produced by ABC called “Report From
Ground Zero”. This film has only been shown once before on television
and is not for sale. Do not miss this special chance to meet Dennis
and see this documentary. Lyric Theatre in downtown Stuart. Tickets
can be picked up at the Blake Library on September 8th and 9th.

“I Was There…on 9-11-01”
Saturday September 13th at 6:00 PM, we present “I Was There…on
9-11-01”. This very special presentation will feature several guest
speakers who played a role at the Pentagon and Ground Zero on
September 11, 2001. Guests include
Chief Edward Plaugher who was the Incident Commander at the
Pentagon, Federal Agent Dennis McKenna who was at Ground Zero when the
Towers fell, FDNY veteran Richard Kirrstetter who spent weeks on “the
pile” helping with recovery, and
Chris & Tim Brown also from FDNY who responded to the attack from
separate fire houses. Event will be at the Jensen Beach High School
Auditorium. Tickets can be picked up at the Blake Library on
September 8th and 9th.

Salute to Our Military
On Saturday September 20th join us as we
salute our military men & women serving today and all our beloved
veterans. There will be a parade of Military Equipment, patriotic
music and special guest speakers including Brig. General Albin Irzyk
who fought in the Battle of the Buldge with Gen George Patton, did two
tours of duty in Vietnam.
